ASSITEJ Canada is a membership-driven, non-profit, inclusive service organization. Now Accepting Nominations/Candidates for the ASSITEJ Canada Board of Directors for 2023/2024
ASSITEJ Canada is a membership-driven, non-profit, inclusive service organization. ASSITEJ Canada, as part of ASSITEJ International, allows creators and presenters of work for young audiences across Canada to take part in international conversations and activities.
ASSITEJ Canada is seeking engaged leaders who share our commitment to theatre and performance for young audiences in Canada to join our Board of Directors. Commitments include attending board meetings, committee participation, and providing support to our growing organization. In order to stand for election at the AGM you must be a member in good standings. The Board of Directors is the governing body and legal authority of ASSITEJ Canada.
ASSITEJ Canada is building an inclusive, balanced Board that promotes and values representation and meaningful equity, anti-racism, anti-oppression with a membership diverse in age, Indigeneity, gender identity, race, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, ethnicity, and perspective.
ASSITEJ particularly encourages and welcomes applications from Indigenous, Black, People of Colour, the Deaf and disabled and other marginalized peoples.
Individual Board Members Responsibilities and Requirements
Regularly attend board meetings and applicable committee meetings as needed
Come to board meetings well-prepared and well-informed about issues on the agenda
Participation in the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and other meetings of the membership;
Contribute to defining ASSITEJ Canada’s strategic directions and approve of its strategic plan;
Represent ASSITEJ Canada’s mission and vision in the community;
Assume board leadership roles when asked or necessary;
Elect the Board Executive Officers as needed;
Review the bylaws, and recommend bylaw changes to the membership;
Available to serve the required term of office of a minimum of two (2) years.
The election of the Board of Directors will take place at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at 4:00pm ET online via Zoom. Members can nominate Board Members or apply in their own right. Nominations are requested in advance and must be received by September 25, 2023. Nominations/applications will be vetted by the Standing Committee and a slate of candidates will be selected to stand for elections. All nominations/applications will receive a reply.
