Calling all Puppet Artists for our second TYA Connection! We are excited to partner with the Puppet Festival Mississauga, whose festival runs from March 11 - 16, 2025 in Mississauga, Ontario on the Traditional Territories of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, The Haudenosaunee Confederacy, and The Huron-Wendat and Wyandot Nations.
TYA Connection is a fun and creative interaction for two artists who have never worked together before to get into a space, learn from one another and create on their own terms.
At the end of 48 hours the artists will share with other ASSITEJ Members, peers and possibly any interested public who are at the Puppet Festival Mississauga what they have learned and created. The sharing can take form in any way the artists are comfortable with - a discussion, a moment from their creation, a drawing, a prompt script, a tableau - it’s up to them.
The focus of this Connection in keeping with the theme of the festival will be puppetry and ASSITEJ Canada will be prioritizing applications from artists outside of Ontario.
Artists who apply need to be members of ASSITEJ Canada or be nominated by companies who are members and be available between March 11 & 16, 2025.
Artists of all ethnicities, abilities and languages are welcome and encouraged to apply.
ASSITEJ Canada will provide:
$150 per day for 3 days
Return transportation for a total of 2 artists from their point of origin
Accommodation for 3 nights in Mississauga
Meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner for 3 days - provided by the festival
$40/day per diem for 3 days
A Festival Pass for the Puppet Festival Mississauga
A Venue to meet and create with the other artist
Applications are to be submitted by midnight PST January 8, 2025. Applications will then be peer reviewed, and the successful artists will be notified.
